Dog behaviourist

Are you concerned about your dog's behaviour?  Are they fearful and struggle to cope in new situations?  Do they find the outside world overwhelming?  Do they chew things they shouldn't or do they toilet inappropriately?  Do they bark excessively at home or dig the garden?  Do they exhibit aggressive behaviours around people or dogs?  Do they struggle to travel comfortably in the car or cope with loud noises such as fireworks?  I work with you and your dog to identify and understand the underlying causes of undesired behaviour and build a plan to help you move forward.  Contact me to discuss your dog's needs.

Problems I can help with include:

  • Fear/nervousness/anxiety
  • Excessive barking
  • Aggression around dogs or people
  • Hyperactivity
  • Car travel issues
  • Grooming and handling issues
  • Noise sensitivity/fear

Many factors can influence a dog's behaviour including their environment, daily routine, their emotions and their physical health.  Everything is interconnected and it is essential that all aspects are considered when working with clients and their dogs who have behavioural issues.

Why choose me?

As a full member of The Canine Behaviour & Training Society and The Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors, I have been assessed for my academic knowledge and practical skills and I work to a strict code of conduct.

I am an Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC) Registered Clinical Animal Behaviourist.  I have hands on experience with a large number of dogs and I am fully insured.  I work in person with local clients and remotely with clients throughout  the UK.

As a fully accredited Dynamic Dog Practitioner I am trained to carry out in-depth hands free functional assessments to highlight areas of potential discomfort in dogs.  Discomfort can be the cause or a contributing factor to many behavioural issues seen in dogs.  Dynamic Dog assessments are incorporated into some behaviour packages and are also offered standalone directly to owners or in collaboration with other dog professionals who may need additional insights into a behavioural case they are working on.

Used and recommended by vets.

Client testimonials

"I first got in contact with Lisa for my first dog Katie, who I had taken on as an 11 year old. After the “settling in” period, I needed some guidance as Katie was desperately trying to push and test the boundaries. With Lisa’s patience and knowledge I was able to teach Katie some “thinking” games to get her brain working and in fact Katie learnt to sit on command at the age of 11. After I lost Katie last year (when she was nearly 15), I took on a Jack Russell from a re-homing centre. Josie had been picked up by a dog warden, so there was little history, however she had clearly had multiple litters and had been physically harmed. She was not house-trained, however she picked that up soon and settled extremely quickly. However, one day she suddenly seemed to regress, withdrawing into herself and taking herself off to keep her own company. Lisa helped me to build up Josie’s confidence so that she is able to deal with any new situations that she comes across. Josie’s character has really developed and she can be quite a pickle at times! Lisa is very happy to work around a particular dog’s (and owner’s!) needs. Her use of t-touch has had an amazing effect with Josie and her advice has built my confidence as a dog owner"
